Reflections Along the Mendocino Coast

Cottonwoods along Mendocino Coast

And now for a little change of pace, and season.  I shot this image a few years ago while driving back to Sea Ranch from a day in Mendocino.  It’s somewhere along the Mendocino Coast between Point Arena and Elk.  I’ve played with this image on and off since I shot it and finally settled on this version.  I think it best captures the tension between the lighted and inverted background vs. the shadowed foreground.  And yes I tried it in B&W and it gave me a headache.  I saw this scene as I was driving on Highway 1 and the light on the creek caught my eye.  It took a bit of hiking to get to the spot where I ultimately captured the image.   Anyway, I thought it might be a nice image to get folks thinking a little early about the colors of Autumn.
